The 20th busiest airport ever built, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) lies 20 miles / 32 km southwest of downtown Detroit and close to Romulus and Taylor. Today, passenger figures at Detroit's Metro Airport have never been higher and in just a 12-month period have exceeded 36 million, with continued growth expected.

Detroit Metro offers passengers a good choice of ground transport, linking the Dearborn Rail Station and also the city's historical Cultural Center Historic District, where many museums and art galleries are clustered. Regular airport buses are operated by SMART (Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation), which stop along the nearby outer roadway, close to the Smith Terminal.
